The Lord's Day Schedule
NEW
VISION PROGRAM 2007- 2008
The Session has become aware of a need in
the congregation for a fuller, more efficient Lord's Day ministry,
one that would include all ages while strengthening family participation.
In order to improve our Sunday ministry the session proposed a new Lord's
Day program, meeting with the deacons, Sunday school coordinator,
secretary and organist to discuss the feasibility of the program and fine
tune it. The new program will include
the Morning Worship service, Sunday school, catechism, the Evening Service
and even College and Careers. See The Lord's Day extended schedule
 MORNING WORSHIP: 9:25 am
|
| 1st &
3rd Sundays |
Prayer
requests from the congregation as we have been doing. However, it will
be limited to ten minutes in order that the rest of the worship will
not be extended.
On the Sundays
we will not have prayer requests, we will continue to publish the Prayer
Page insert in the bulletin - so please continue to call them in to the
secretary (842-5301). |
| 2nd Sunday | will be devoted to broader Pastoral Intercession: confession of
sins, common struggles, the nation and those in authority, political
issues, etc. |
| 4th Sunday | will be devoted to Missionary Intercession: particular men by
name, foreign fields, our new Missionary Committee work. |
| 5th Sunday | as may seem appropriate. |

EVENT-ORIENTED COLLEGE AND CAREERS
The
shift from weekly class during catechism to an event-oriented plan will,
hopefully, attract a better participation, as it will be published in
advance with a more interesting format. such events, with the help of
adults, will include meals, cookouts, game nights, movie feature,
progressive dinners, etc. The adults are requested to participate in this
ministry by opening their living rooms, garages, back yards, etc. for us
to meet at various times. A spiritual focus will accompany each event.
Hopefully, this will reach out not only to our young adults, but to their
friends as well. Frequency of events may be as often as twice a month, or
as infrequent as once a month, depending on how great is our
participation. |

Order of Worship & Prayer Requests
The session provides the procedure which protects the order of worship and still makes provisions for the congregation's sharing of pertinent prayer concerns, instead of encapsuling the sharing time within the worship
hour.
Multiple methods are provided for collecting the prayer requests.
(1) Immediately before the worship hour, following the announcements, a time is set aside for the congregation to issue prayer requests
(see the request schedule above).
(2) A Prayer Request box has been placed in the sanctuary for the deposit of prayer requests. A half-sheet printed Prayer Request form is provided on which to write these requests, and the request can be categorized. The elders pick up these requests from the box at 9:20 a.m.
on Lord's Day morning for their
private, pre-worship prayer time. These requests are then brought to the Lord at the congregational prayer time during the worship service.
(3) Telephone call to the pastor
(518-842-5301)
(4) E-Mail the pastor
(5) During the week, the prayer chain also operates on the schedule that is written in the annual directory.
Telephone number for submitting current
prayer requests is Jean Wilson at
518-842-3293 or her E-mail
address

Facilities and Service
Restrooms
are on both levels
on the west side of the building adjacent to
the fellowship halls.
Nurseries
are staffed and are age-appropriate
for both the worship
service and for the Sunday school hour.
Children
are invited to participate in the worship service.
There is a
break in the middle of the service if little ones need to be excused.
A Complete Coffee Bar
is provided for adults immediately following the
morning service.
The main Book/Literature Table is located at the back of the sanctuary, near the
entrance. Many items
are free including Bibles. Some items are marked with a suggested donation. This
donation may be placed in the basket at the time of the offering.
A Tape/CD Ministry is an on-going ministry for the
congregation and friends. The pastor's Sunday morning sermons are recorded. A list of sermon topics can be secured by calling the church office at (518)
842-5301
(The list is periodically printed in the bulletin).
